One plan, two people
Most couples want one budget they both believe in, and a fair view of who is paying for what. The planner keeps a single plan for the household and lets every paycheck, bill and purchase carry a name.
How tagging works
Type up to six names on Start Here. Every Who cell on Bills & Recurring and Transactions offers those names from a list. Leave it blank for shared costs such as rent.
What the example shows
Alex and Sam share rent, utilities and groceries. In September, Alex earned $4,800 and spent $1,206.56 on things tagged to Alex, Sam earned $400 from freelance work and spent $956.28, and $2,840.49 went on shared costs.
Edit it together
Save it as a Google Sheet and share it, and you can both add spending from your phones. In Excel, keep it in a shared OneDrive folder.

Questions people ask
Can we keep separate and shared money?
Yes. Tag what is personal and leave shared costs untagged. The Dashboard splits the month into each person and shared.
Can more than two people use it?
Up to six names, so it works for a family or housemates too.
Can we both edit it at the same time?
In Google Sheets, yes. Upload the file, choose File > Save as Google Sheets, and share it.
Does it split bills 50/50?
It shows who paid what; it does not calculate who owes whom. Many couples use the By person table to agree a fair split each month.
